so ive been apartment searching & found a great one listed. Ive called several times & left messages with no call back. how do you find out if a craigslist ad is bogus? not to mention i find this very annoying. why put up an ad if youre not going to call back!

For me, I would email the person and when I got the email back it would be a long story about how they are a missionary in Africa and they will provide a very long phone number. They will also say if you send them the money for the apartment they will send you the key but they NEVER do. It's a scam to get your money. It happened to me in NY too so that's how I know it's all around.

Leaving a voice mail for an apartment ad should be treated the same way as leaving a voice mail to an employer. An employer will filter out many candidates just from how they conduct themselves on the phone and landlords do the same. Not saying this applies to you but it's something to think about.
