I mean I always catch up to the cars in the city. People just don't seem to comprehend speeding stop sign to stop sign or red light to red light just gets you no where. I get a good laugh at the 90%+ cars using their braking going up hill through the zoo. People just can't drive in the US. There is no training.

Anyway, the road rage thing is pretty often if you are in a hurry. If you are not in a hurry, you could probably drive YEARS without one incident. At my age I leave a tiny bit earlier and take my time. Sure I have the white knuckle people behind me all freaking out until we get to the next red light. Then they calm down and I like to think they realize they would have gotten nowhere by speeding about. Now in the country or the highway, sure you can make some time off your drive if you move along. In the city? No way. We are talking about seconds not minutes. Means nothing and is stupid.
For the record, I'm 42, and any rage I get has nothing to do with being in a hurry. I'm well known for never being late and allowing sometimes to much time to get where I am going. People not paying attention and people who cause unnecessary traffic back ups are my two main culprits.

Oh well, this story that spawned this thread is a great example of minding your own business while in traffic.

By the way, the actor in this crime has a hearing today

It will be good for your heart to learn how to not sweat the small stuff.

In the grand scheme of things, the world won't end if you're a few minutes late someday.

When you die, people aren't going to write "he was never late" on your tombstone.

But you should ensure they don't write "he easily broke into road rage in traffic."

Promptness is a less desirable personality trait than calmness.

Scott, we have a lot in common, but when it comes to driving I guess I gave up. People are all rushing around very selfishly these days and when I see accidents and it seems that is quite often, they are not small ones. It is always evident someone was speeding out of control. I am tailgated all the time, but am getting more and more used to it, so it bothers me much less. Rushing around the city gets you nowhere fast. The slowest of drivers will catch up at the next stop sign or red light. I see it ALL the time. The only place speeding around makes a difference is on long highway trips. You can actually chop off some time on those. In the city? Nope. Just putting everyone else in harms way and IMHO, that is just selfishness.

I hope this nutball does not live in my immediate neighborhood. With any luck he will be in prison for a long time.

I'll have to file this story away in my mind for the next time some NRA supporter tells me how we're all safer when everyone carries a gun.

For every single gun-nut incident like this, there are 1000s of people carrying responsibly, and completely without incident.

That's true, but it is hard for people to visualize a non-event like not pulling a gun. Perhaps it would be good if every time after there is a shooting, everybody who had a gun but wasn't involved fired a round into the air to let everybody know how much restraint they have.
