Just do like they did in Braddock and Homestead 120 years ago (according to a book I just started reading called, "Out of this Furnace") - rent out your extra rooms to millworkers for $3 a month and don't worry about it.

My liability concern is fire escapes. She's living in your attic. Even though you provided her with a ladder, it's still not a fire escape. Since I believe the city requires fire escapes for apartment buildings, I think you'd have a hard time defending that ladder in a lawsuit if she was injured or killed in a fire.

No, the Christian Bale movie that filmed in Braddock called "Knight of Cups" was originally titled, "Out of the Furnace". It is a different story than "Out of This Furnace" which chronicles three generations of a family that immigrates to the US and eventually settles in Homestead.
