What is with all the crime in the Bethel Park area? (Pittsburgh: middle-class, violent crime)

One word: Heroin. The south hills of Pittsburgh has for many years been a breeding ground for drug addicts especially Heroin. I worked in the Bethel Park area for 5 years and I cannot tell you how many times people had their homes and cars broken into for items that have quick cash returns and then there are those who pulled weapons on working people for a few bucks looking for a quick fix.
As for the hoodie statement, most if not all of the people arrested or detailed for a crime in this general area have been white males, age 20 to 28 years old.

Perhaps you mean the neighborhood of St. Clair in the City of Pittsburgh which was once home to St. Clair Village, a section 8 housing project that had an extremely high amount of murders & robberies over the years and has now been leveled to empty fields.

Heroin is in all the suburbs. Boggles my mind. It's the one thing we knew not to even try in the 70s.
