Larry Richert's voice is widespread advertising, a radio dj, voice of Heinz Field, a voice of NFL productions and voice of non profits and former tv weatherman and comedian. While Rick Sebak is a voice for WQED productions and has done a very good job of branding those. For the everday ear exposed to mainstream Pittsburgh radio and tv, Larry Richert's voice is heard far more then any other in the Pittsburgh market. While it's not unusual for one voice to dominate a media market, Richert's longevity on top for advertising vocals and his recent additional work as Public Address anouncer for Heinz Field along with his full time radio dj job has his voice working overtime.
I'm intrigued by the lack of 'advertsing' and media heavy voices in this market. A good voice over gig can bring nice bucks in local advertising. Perhaps most folks don't pay attention to such particulars as voice over talent or particular voicing. I just thought it was interesting one talent can be so dominate for so long from a marketing standpoint.

I didn't either until I looked up who does the WQED Pittsburgh History series. It's Rick Sebak.

I think he's the voice of Pittsburgh even though I didn't know his name.

His voice annoyed me to no end. He's probably the reason I can't stand sports commentators.

Hey, don't go badmouthing the Great Myron. He had more talent than Richert, just didn't have that great a voice.

I really wasn't a fan of Myron, but I think he was a good guy and he really loved Pittsburgh. His style got old after a while. He was pretty unique and the co-founder of the terrible towel, which you have to admit, caught on just a little.

He's definitely the voice for The Bars of Pgh. or is it Pitt?

I sat between him and Steve Blass at the old Red Bull Inn in Dormont back in the 80's. Luckily, I only lived a 1/2 block away. Those boys have hollow legs.
