Can't find anything on the web, but heard it on the Today Show that Pittsburgh is replacing Portland. Great job Pittsburgh!

Saw that. The list was Miami, Birmingham, Pittsburgh, and Marseille. Certainly an interesting compilation.

If you want to see it on the Today Show below is the link. Go to the to and see "latest show" and scroll to 9:15AM. Kind of cool Pittsburgh would be mentioned, but I have always said, if Pittsburgh was in Europe, it would be a travel destination.

There's actually a quote from the New York Times in 1990 I believe where someone said the same exact thing.

Is that Birmingham in England, or the "Pittsburgh of the South"? Both would be rather ironic from a Pittsburgh point of view.

It's the "Pittsburgh of the South". Got a kick out of the mentioning of East Liberty as a mini-Silicon Valley.

Well Google and CMU are there, or around there, so that is at least positive. I was very happy with what they showed, with some arts and skiing, which was cool. Wasn't happy about the Steeler part, because we don't need that crap on there. I just think it was cool Pittsburgh is considered a "destination". We have come a long way.

Pittsburgh's still a bit short on tourist attractions, but it's a wonderful destination if you have family/friends in the area who can show you all the cool "insider" spots.

Don't forget the woman calling it Liberty East.
