PHLF is currently working on a plan for the next phase of their development efforts in Hamnett Place - this time they want to do a mix of restorations and some new construction, and all rentals, which is interesting. there has already been a borough zoning council meeting where some of the proposed new units were nixed after neighbors expressed concerens, and it's still very early in the process, but here are the plans as they stand now.

- rehabbing the Falconhurst Apartments, which are right next to the already rehabbed Crescent Apartments. This would change that whole block from abandoned to almost completely occupied, besides an industrial building at the busway end of the block which I believe is empty.
- rehabbing 2 buildings and i believe building one on Mulberry St.
- rehabbing 1 more building on Jeanette St.

If anyone here has a stake or interest in the neighborhood, there will be more council meetings and probably some community meetings with PHLF to talk about the plans. I'll try to keep people apprised of what's going on. i have mixed feelings about PHLF but they really have invested a ton in this neighborhood.

I can understand the concerns about adding rentals, and new construction. However, I think this seems like a decent plan.

Please keep us posted with any updates.

I hadn't realized how small the actual historic district is. It looks like it's not even 100 buildings.

yeah, it's tiny! i don't think i ever saw those particular borders before. i always thought of hamnett place being walnut to rebecca and swissvale to the busway, but i guess the historic district isn't necessarily the same thing.
