New projects continue to shape Downtown Greensburg as an academic enclave, cultural and business center. I think now's a good time for a developer to consider developing an 8-10 story nationally-branded hotel with street-level retail and restaurant space somewhere within the business district.

I really want to take an overnighter sometime soon to Greensburg. Maybe catch a show at the Palace Theater, grab a bite for dinner, and stay at a cheap motel. Thanks for starting this thread, neurodistortion. In my opinion Greensburg is a very underrated satellite city of Pittsburgh, and I hope to see it thrive into the future. I would love it if this thread could be updated with new economic development news about the Greensburg/Hempfield area.

I think this will be the location: West Otterman & College - Google Maps

It looks like a good spot for the project, as it's only about a half mile from Seton Hill campus and will be replacing only an old parking lot. It will also be within walking distance to a number of solid restaurants, bars, and a decent coffee shop.

Greensburg is a great little city with a rapidly improving food scene. I went out in Greensburg last weekend and had a great time. Parked on Pennsylvania Ave for free, had an amazing dinner at One Eleven and then went to Oliver's and JCorks.

Looks like Greensburg is pretty forward-thinking "let's replace ugly massive surface parking lots with something useful". I like it!

Greensburg has a lot of potential. It's downtown is mostly closed up but most of it is still standing, just waiting for someone to move back in.

Pennsylvania Avenue is pretty well occupied. Main Street could use some improvement, but I don't think it's mostly closed up.

Screw the cheap hotel, there is a couple of B & B's within walking distance of the Palace Theater. My wife and I saw Kathleen Madigan there a few months ago, it's a great venue.

Greensburg has always flown under the radar in Pgh's eyes. I've been spending time up there for years.

Is it close enough to Pittsburgh for a day trip? Or, is it more of a weekend jaunt? I'm eager to explore Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. Greensburg sounds fun and interesting.

You can drive to Greensburg in about 45 minutes on the highway. It's definitely an easy day trip. I also recommend Uniontown!
