See - another data point on how substandard and decrepit Pittsburgh is. The gangs aren't even as good as Detroit. If we can't grow and maintain decent gangstas in this city, what future is there? And Detroit is much flatter. I'm moving ...
I seriously can't stand to even read their posts/threads anymore. Its all a load of crap.

To whoever said Pittsburgh is crime ridden is ridiculous. We have maybe 20% of our neighborhoods that are really, really bad. And 85% of the crime in our city is committed there. Uptown Kid actually has a good grasp on the crime here. Whats hard to point out to an outsider is how small some of the areas he's saying are bad are. If Pittsburgh was divided up like most cities, we'd have 20 neighborhoods, and 4 or 5 would be "bad".

Pittsburgh and Detroit are not comparable in the least. Pittsburgh was bankrupted, not saved by the government, and rebuilt itself. Detroit was ruined, bailed out, and is still failing. Maybe one day it will rebuild itself, but Pittsburgh is in way better shape than Detroit is. I'm sorry Detroit guy that sticks up for his city; the only thing Detroit has is, is that its bigger than Pittsburgh.

Detroit has BLUE water. Not Monongahela Green or Brown like Pittsburgh's.

Bigger only means more traffic, that I could have done without.

When was the bassmaster's classic last in Detroit? , because obviously fish think our rivers are clean enough here to have it.

Is this actually true, or just some more online posturing?

It is true, the Detroit river was surprisingly beautiful compared to almost any other one that I have seen

For decades, industrial waste was poured into the Pittsburgh rivers, lakes and waterways. I wouldn't trust the water.

Pittsburgh is widely regarded as one of the most polluted cities in America.

They are still cleaner than the Cuyahoga
But other rivers that I have seen such as the Potomac, Delaware, Hudson, East, Cuyahoga are all much dirtier than the Detroit river. I believe it has to do with the Detroit river being a strait connecting Lake Erie with Lake Huron and the water is clear due to having zebra mussels clear the algae

Air pollution is still a problem, although slightly improving. A lot of it isn't entirely Pittsburgh's fault, but lets be honest, this region isn't a Mecca of fresh, clean air.
