Today's the day for 2013. You give to your favorite local charities, and the Pittsburgh Foundation matches a percentage based on the total amount given through the site.

For 2013 the match pool is $750,000. Usually a few million or so is given with the match coming in around 15-20%, perhaps less if people are extra generous with their main contributions. Already at $1.8 million so far.

Minimum you can give $25 per charity. Max used in the match calculation is $1000 per individual donation per charity, but you can give more than that if you want.

There's a huge list of large and small nonprofits in Pittsburgh who will qualify for the match if you give to them via the site today.

Thanks so much for letting us know, Greg! I worked all day, but I just saw this in enough time to make a contribution to our neighborhood association!

So the total is $5.8 million. I guess that's pretty high; that would set the match around 13%. Although, it's probably a little bit more than that because $5.8 mil is presumably the entire total, and the match actually has $750,000 for Allegheny and an additional $95,000 for Westmoreland County charities.
