Yep - it feels like a big city. Much bigger than Pittsburgh. Kinda fun. Kinda cold. I did suspect teh locals were exaggerating a little though.

Try 3 days average in April (on par with Pittsburgh). Montreal is cooler, but not necessarily snowier. (Sorry Hopes, I'm an exaggeration killer) Vermont is high in elevation as well as being close to the coast. Montreal is on the St. Lawrence; low in elevation.
Exaggeration killers are always welcome. I just assumed because it's farther north it would have more snow.

Apparently the city snow total was more like 2" though, but perhaps with thicker ice? The line between things was very close by it seems.
I had 4 inches of snow in Lawrenceville I'd estimate right before the changeover. But, I've noticed many times less snow in Downtown compared to the short 4 mile drive to my house.

We had about 3" of snow in Polish Hill prior to the changeover. I do agree, though, that snowfall totals here do vary wildly over the span of just a few miles. It seemed like Downtown had less snow. Squirrel Hill? A tad more---maybe 4".

I was told there was more than twice that, just up the river in Aliquippa.

These kinds of "wintry mix" storms around the freezing mark do that. I was down in Southside several years ago, wet on the street. A coworker reported 7 inches at Arlington School.

The other evening around 1 AM (maybe 12:30 AM) when the snow switched over to sleet and then freezing rain. The snow came down pretty ferociously at my home around 11 PM.
