One of the guys at work offered me a Pit/Lab puppy yesterday, for free. I think he has half a dozen of them, if anybody's contemplating stealing one...

Nicely said. I totally agree.

Tell your friend to neuter his damned dogs. There are a million pit mixes that won't get adopted and face a life of a few months in a small cage, then euthanasia. If one isn't a AKC-certified breeder that's actually improving a breed line, there's never a good reason to have puppies.

My first thought was that you were offered a puppy from one of Pitt's Labs. Like maybe they had an extra after experiments or something.

Actually, when he agreed to take Mama, she was already knocked up.

Have you ever looked at that website for the Animal Rescue League posted. It is about 90% Pitt Bulls and mixes of such. Why? Where do they all come from? Why all Pitt Bulls? I see why Denver banned them. I think we need to do the same. It is gross what goes on around here with these poor dogs. I can't imagine what is under ground, but I really don't want to know. Probably makes Michael Vick's thing seem like child's play.

That would never happen. There are no extra animals in research because a scientist has to have a protocol that is approved that specifies the exact number of animals he/she requires for the study and must give excellent reasons as to why it has to be dogs and not rats, rats and not mice, and mice rather than zebra fish. And he better have a really good reason to need to use any kind of monkey. He also has to explain thoroughly why it has to be that number of dogs which has to be the smallest possible number he can use and still have the research be useful, before he every receives funding or approval from IACUC to go ahead with the study.

I forgot to mention that I saw on the news that a police officer adopted the stolen puppy.
