- Zenith's brunch is Mecca as far as Pittsburgh vegetarians/vegans are concerned. It's $11.50 (recently up from an even $10, which was the price for at least seven years) for all you can eat of a variety of delicious cold salads and vegan cakes/pies, with a wonderful rotating cast of pancakes, french toast, wraps, hearty sandwiches, a scrambled egg dish, and usually sometime of pasta dish offered as entrées. The European-style seating, antique store atmosphere (great place to play "I spy" while digesting), and family run kitchen make for one of the most interesting dinning experiences in Pittsburgh.

Oh, and for the record, the elusive ToFishy sandwich, rarely offered due to the intense and lengthy process of creating it, is the greatest vegan creation this side of the Chicago Diner, and the quintessential Pittsburgh vegetarian sandwich.

- Games N'at, a bit off the beaten path on Josephine Street, is among the most enjoyable and inexpensive hangout spots in town. $8 will get you two hours of all-you-can-play pinball, classic arcade games of all stripes, air hockey, pool, X-Box, ping-pong, and fuse-ball, plus duck pin bowling for an extra $2 a game. It's all wonderfully low key and never obnoxiously loud, even when it's crowded. The staff, like Zenith, is all family and totally sweet. And it's BYOB.

Two big slaps of breaded tofu with lettuce, tomato, and your choice of vegan tartar or cocktail sauce on a kaiser bun. As long as one is at least OK with eating tofu, it's absolutely brilliant.

Tofishy is the bomb! Particularly with the cocktail sauce. It is a tad too oily sometimes though.

Sadly, we'll not be going to Zenith again for awhile until our son is older. They don't have any decent high chairs, only "vintage" ones without straps.

C'mon now:

vegan garlic macaroni salad > safety of your child

Or just duct tape him to the damn thing if you're that worried about it.

Good catch - though i was actually referring (incorrectly) to the place that replaced rumshakers which is actually 'twelve on carson' but someone told me it was going to be called bricks when I made the list.

Another change is S Bar is now closed (good riddance) but replaced by the trashy named 'devils & dolls' which will hopefully also be short lived (disclaimer: I've never actually been inside so there's a .01% chance the place is in actuality great).

That is about the worst possible name they could have chosen for that place. It basically guarantees that I will never set foot in there unless its to close the deal with a girl, haha.
