The way I understand their metric, for every 100 families using U-Haul to move from Pittsburgh, there were 106.92 families using U-Haul to move to Pittsburgh, which is the third-highest ratio of all cities with at least 5,000 people moving. Not exactly a scientific analysis, but interesting nonetheless.

Maybe it's not that people are staying here, but that they come here and make so much money that when they leave, they can hire somebody to haul stuff for them.

We were #1 last year with 9.04% growth. Pretty cool to be near the top two years in a row.

That is an old, irrelevant report now so we are yet to see the real numbers. I will be moving out mid May and I know of a few others relocating. You will probably see more people moving away in 2014 which has been the long term trend for awhile here. A short term wave in 2013 is an outlier.

Also tells me that it should be cheaper to rent a truck here--there are more dropped off than there are being picked up and moved away.

Some of the extra trucks probably get moved elsewhere, where they're needed more.

When I lived in Flint, Michigan, U-Haul was charging three times the rate for an outbound rental
as for an inbound. It was THAT bad!
