Not likely in Pittsburgh. If this is what the OP hopes for in a "progressive liberal" area, he will have an extraordinarily difficult time finding it around here.

It can be found all over the city, but I agree when you get out further it gets harder to find. You need to be around more educated people involved in college and education.

Hmmm, to get some space yard-wise & a nice community feel--White Oak comes to mind, there is both the suburby parts & more country like settings, if you want to be farther from your neighbors & not hear their windchimes. Just stay out of the floodzone, which is easy enough.

I don't know about the community's political views, I tend to tune people out & avoid those subjects.
People seem friendly & helpful, kind, & driving through it feels like small town America, it is a really cute little town. Has nice access to lots of other towns & places & things to do. Not too far from Pittsburgh proper & home prices seem good if you shop smart.

Harmony and Zelie hippie??? Hipster is more like it. Besides, Zelie is now a burb. Drive up 19. The whole stretch is under development. It is no longer a small town but a Pittsburgh neighborhood.

If you want hippie, than go out to the rural areas north of I-80 or southeast past New Stanton. I doubt that would interest the OP though.

Harmony, not Zelie. Go just a mile in every direction but south and you're in the country. My sister lives out there on 20 acres surrounded by farms. It's not suburban north and west of either town. I assure you they're not hipsters up that way. It's all country folk or old-fashioned hippies.

I did not bash Obama by name. Only used him as an example of how politicians are increasingly
urging their supporters to go and get in people's faces.

Which is the whole reason why the guy who started this thread is looking to live in a
homogenous neighborhood with people who agree with him. Was not such a concern
in the past.

I think it is VERY relevant to the topic.
Moderator cut: please stop nitpicking what I said. This is not the politics forum, if you want to fight over politics IN ANY WAY, do it there. Yac.

Fine. I think this fellow should come to Brookline.

Last night a canvasser came to my porch asking me to sign a petition on an issue
I was 180 degrees in opposition to. But our discussion was very polite and cordial.
I was quite pleasant to her. Heck, even my dog was nice to her.

We did not get in each others faces or anything.

Honestly, truly I don't bite. And neither does my dog.

You'll be welcome and well treated in Brookline, regardless of your opinions.

Can we all say the same of City Data forums??
