Would you really take a different route if you're driving from Pgh to Philly?

Interstate 68 works if you're driving from south of Pgh to Maryland or Washington D.C. Interstate 80 works if you're driving from north of Pittsburgh to NE PA, North Jersey or New York City.

If I needed to avoid tolls, I would take 30 or a combination of 22 and 30. My children have done it when they've been traveling with friends and they were all down to counting pennies and dollars to get back home. I was responding to someone who said people have no choice. They really do have a choice. If they want to save time and take the turnpike, they are making the choice to do so. They're not forced.

Will the also increase the speed limit?

The turnpike had a 70mph limit in the 1940s. When did the revenue generators lower the limit to 65?

The working man already pays road user fees via state and federal gas taxes. That is how it works in other states.
