So what the frick is wrong with the construction workers in this town? The traffic at Saw Mill Run has been awful since I moved here and now it appears that they aren't even working on it. Any news on this cluster?

It's where Saw Mill Run Blvd intersects with Library Rd. It is backed up in the morning 6:45AM-7:30AM to 3:30-5:00PM (My travel estimates)

Try 5:30 AM - 7:00 PM. The construction work is approximately halfway done, but many construction operations can't take place in this colder weather (Asphalt paving can't be done legally in Western PA after 10/15/2014).

Plus the fact that 43,500 cars use 51 a day. If you think about it, waiting an extra 10 minutes isn't that bad.

Where are you trying to get to? If you are heading downtown.....make a left on McNeilly, then a Right on Creedmore, take Creedmore all the way to Brookline Blvd, then a left then quick right down Edgebrook, and that will drop you on 51 one light away from the Liberty Tubes.

There are alternative routes, down Streets Run if you're coming from out 51. Scott Rd and McFarland to Banksville to the Ft Pitt Tunnel if you're coming from out 88.

This city is tied up in knots these days. If this was done correctly, the cost to all of us would be taken into account then it would be obvious more projects should be scheduled off-hours or for more than one shift a day.

It is. Things take longer than meets the eye.

I guess I'm blind then because while I'm not one to complain about necessary infrastructural improvements I don't see ANY being worked OVERNIGHT when traffic volume is lighter. Even those projects where they try to rush on them from 9 AM - 3 PM on weekdays to wedge between peak hours end up causing major delays because in many parts of the city the streets are very busy from 7 AM until 7 PM.

The Liberty Tubes were almost entirely rehabbed at night, with the exception of the complete closures that occurred.

A big hinderance to working overnight is darkness. Firing up flood lights can only do so much.
