I'm not worried about hotel rooms becoming overbuilt anytime soon. My parents and my partner's parents still have difficulty finding affordably-priced rooms near the city each time they come to visit due to the high demand.

New hotel rooms are never cheap ("affordable").

After you fulfill your dream and buy a house, you'd have room to put them up yourself?

Old hotel rooms tend to get cheaper when new hotels open in sufficient number.

^ This.

This also explains why I'm a proponent of all of these $1,000,000+/month (well, not literally, but you get the idea) apartment complexes springing up all over town. Maybe enough pressure will be relieved off the rental market that rents on garbage outdated apartments will stop rising and instead level off?

In another one of these threads I compared the number of rooms in different cities. Pittsburgh had been abnormally low..lower than Cleveland. We are seeing a correction and these new rooms are restoring a healthy level of rooms.

equality and balance are good
an economy that is heavily weighted toward low-paying service jobs is not good
