Do any of you know of any stores or restaurants or bars, etc from the 1970's that are still there?
Especially in Shadyside, East Liberty, around Duquesne University, Oakland? I am curious to know that's all.
I have nice memories of that time.

In Oakland, I think Peter's Pub is from that far back and it's still there. Obviously, The O also.

In East Liberty, I think Kelly's goes back that far.

Not that terribly much still remains from the 70's.

In Oakland, the Original is still out there, so are the McDonalds and Arby's on Forbes. Chief's in still open for business in North Oakland.

The grocery on Walnut St. dates from the 70's or before, and is still in business.

Out in East Liberty, Anthon's is still in business. So is Kelly's, but that place really was transformed a few years back.

Very little survives. I don't remember bars very well, as I wasn't yet old enough to drink. I think all of these places were around in the early 1970s.

Shadyside:
Schiller's Pharmacy, S. Aiken @ Walnut
Prantl's, 5525 Walnut Street
Kards Unlimited, 5522 Walnut Street
Shadyside Variety Store, 5421 Walnut Street

Oakland:
Luna Bar on N. Craig St.
McDonald's, originally at the southwest corner of Forbes and Bouquet

Squirrel Hill:
Mineo's, one door up from its original location
Someone once said the Giant Eagle used to occupy the current Eat 'n' Park space, but I don't remember if this is true.
Phil Pelusi was there in the '70s, but I don't remember if it's the same location.
Manor Theatre
The JCC (Jewish Community Center) is in the former location of the organization it superseded, the Y-IKC (Young Men's and Women's Irene Kaufmann Center).

I hope that's not what somebody bothered to check back about after 40 years.

Shadyside's Kards Unlimited was definitely there in the 70s.
