Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is one of 17 mayors nationwide who accepted Obama’s request to find a safe haven for families who fled Syria’s war and violence.
“Terrorists work in a manner where they want fear and hysteria to reign, and it's at times like this we truly test the words on the Statue of Liberty,” Peduto said.

Peduto says Pittsburgh will accept as many as 500 Syrian refugees | www.wpxi.com

Do not worry about our broken infrastructure and defective bridges. ISIS will soon be here to help blow them up.

Our bridges will have already fallen before any refugees actually arrive here, as the process takes upwards of 2 years from fleeing your war torn homeland to actually being resettled in the US.

Everyone needs to calm down, it’s not like any refugees would arrive here and spoil your Light Up Night.

Now time to sit back and watch the hate filled banter and misinformation flow......

They're going to be really disappointed that we tore down the Syria Mosque.

What exactly is the process for "vetting" someone with no papers and no background?

Don't know that anybody ran against him...and after the good mayor Luke, he looked fantastic.

There's something called an "electorate". A majority of them voted for him. I voted for him and would gladly vote to re-elect him. It's about time Pittsburgh starts to get with the times with a progressive at the helm instead of always being a national laughingstock.

Would you rather Darlene Harris be mayor? Josh Wander?

Josh Wander ran against him on the Republican ticket and lost miserably---probably because he moved to Israel prior to the election and said he'd move back "if he won". His Democratic primary challenger, Jack Wagner, was extremely lackluster.
