Nor a reason to call the DOT "inept". I don't want to start a classic city-data firestorm, but instead just want to say its an unfair label...compared to many users of their facilities.

Driverless car technology is very welcome. I hope the area can get a foot in the door for this new market.

Neat stuff! I saw this autonomous being leaving it's lair this morning on my commute to work.

I welcome the days where I can nap or read the paper and sip coffee en route to my destination.

There was a human brain in and responsible for the car.

I saw one on a cross street between Penn and Smallman about a month ago. It handled the 4 way stop just fine and had no scratches or pedestrian blood on it so my confidence level is high.

I am much more concerned about the teenage girls out there driving and snapchatting.

This Uber car is probably the safest thing on the street out there.

One thing I am curious about - how do these autonomous cars handle cyclists?

City cyclists often alter between behaving as vehicles and pedestrians. I imagine this behavior could cause confusion for robotic vehicles.

Not sure about that but I expect there will be some kind of video so that the argument of fault in the event of accidents should be very clear. Insurance companies will love it.
