Wendy will win easily if it goes to court. Part of me wish it would, but that pathetic WTAE will throw a bunch of money Wendy's way to make her go away. I am not sure she will take it though. She is very bright and probably will want to take this all the way... or at least I hope she does and I hope she wins huge. The double standard is wildly out of control.

She could always get a job with the Trump campaign. A perfect fit.

Should WTAE be forced to employ a person who is offensive to at least 26% of Pittsburgh residents? They have televisions too.

I find the recent rash of allegations over some perceived racial "double standard" in our society to be pathetic. This is code-speak for defending the use of ignorant stereotypes, and a rationale/defense for idiocy along the lines of Wendy Bell's comments/ensuing lawsuit. It's really getting out of hand, and explains the popularity of the dangerous narcissists aspiring to national politics and engaging in similar provocations almost daily. The fact that so many folks are willing to advertise their simplistic misconceptions about groups that they really have no direct experience with is maddening.

I didn't find anything objectionable in the remarks she made on the Facebook page. I can see how some may have, while I disagree.

She is seeking reinstatement at her previous position as a settlement bargaining chip. Neither party actually wants that to happen, as it would be tremendously awkward for all parties.

I am not angry that she is bringing these claims. I thought it was petty to fire her. I hope this claim and any settlement reached causes employers to think a bit when they decide to make decisions to appease the mob.

Every person in media offends some portion of the public.

Media employers should carefully consider their decisions to terminate an employee for innocent remarks, even where some segment of the population is offended.

Where do we draw the line? Is it a bright yellow line, or does it consist of various shades of a blurry grey?

There was nothing blurry about Bell`s words. It was blatantly racist and offensive to blacks and those who know right from wrong.

I don't think it matters if she was 'right' or 'wrong' in saying what she did. What matters is whether or not there were rules about what she could put on social media as a representative of WTAE.
I have a friend who is a newscaster down south and she is required to engage in social media, but there is someone who vets everything before she puts out there.
But I am not a lawyer, and I do not entirely understand how she is making a racial discrimination charge.
(FWIW I do not think she should have been fired but the lawsuit's grounds seem odd to me.)

But see, not all black people are thin-skinned rednecks that want to tear down anything that does not kiss their butts. 26% would be a high number.
