I like it very much.....I agreed....
When Cranberry police were deciding when and where to start an initiative that would put them in more direct contact with residents, they could think of no better place than the township's annual Community Days celebration. So that is where the department's new Police Bicycle Unit made its official debut. Sgt. Bill Ahlgren said four members of the department, including himself, volunteered to be part of the patrol and underwent four days of instruction and hands-on training.
Good......
Some, obviously those that have never been to or only travel the highway, have the idea that it's near impossible to walk or bike Cranberry. Another misconception is that Rt.19 and 228 are huge traffic issues which also is not the case.

The only other issue is drug use/prostitution at some of the no tell motels on 19

I'd wager drugs and prostitution are most everywhere across the country...but no tell motels in Cranberry? Where are those?

Can't remember what hotel it's called, but it's on the right hand side while travelling south on 19, almost to Thorn Hill Road. There have been prostitution and drug busts there aplenty.

1 suspect from Cranberry, 1 from Erie, 2 from da 'burgh, and 1 from California at the Marriott.

Could be wrong but haven't heard of any no tell motels, or busts aplenty, however.

I think it's the Hotel 6 below the McDonald's on 19 that has been having prostitution busts. Ah, from what I've heard, naturally.

Initially the Cranberry Police Dept wanted to have officers walking a beat. But, since there are no sidewalks in Soulless Cranberry they had to opt for bikes.

It's kinda well known that Cranberry is a drug & prostitution spot because of location with I-79 and the turnpike. Just a few examples:

Five arrested in prostitution sting - Butler Eagle Online

6 Charged In Cranberry Twp. Prostitution Sting | WPXI

The Cranberry Eagle Online

I don't understand the police on bikes in Cranberry. It is such a suburb and I have never seen a biker or much foot traffic when I have visited. My taxes don't pay their salaries so if that is what people want in Cranberry, then good for them.

Interesting. 2011, 2014, 2016. Maybe the bike cops will put an end to all these prostitution rings, lol.

Like most highways, people don't walk or bike on them.

I'm sure they know what they are doing, but I DO wonder how much the "cops on bicycle roll-out" costs the borough, and how many times other than "community days" they plan to ride the bikes.

I agree and don't see why others don't. There are plenty of people who bike there, especially near the Thorn Hill industrial area and other areas, but that still doesn't raise the need for cycle cops. I'd totally see it if we saw more in the city, there's a more than definite need there, but Cranberry? Makes me wonder if Mt Lebanon even has any. I've never seen any there. That would even be a more likely area for bicycle patrol
