Thank you. It's so nice to hear that you'll be returning to the 'burgh in a couple short years. Take care!

1. How long have you lived in Pittsburgh?

four years

2. In which neighborhood do you reside?

Mt. Lebanon

3. What structural changes have you noted in your neighorhood within the last year (e.g. construction of townhomes, closing down of shops, building of hospitals or health centers, paving of roads, etc.)?

some upscale townhouses are being built in our neighborhood and I hear a Pamela's Diner is coming to Washington Road (the best crepe pancakes ever!)

4. In what way have these changes affected your daily pattern of living in your neighborhood?

while none of the above changes affect me daily, I get the sense that Mt. Lebanon is constantly evolving and trying to maintain their reputation as a desirable suburb

5. How have these changes affected your opinion or perception of the community you live in?

Mt. Lebanon promotes a sense of community...they: have street fairs and farmer's markets in the summer, consider themselves a friendly walking community (thus no school bus system) and care a lot about their parks, recreation, and library

6. On a monthly basis, approximately how often do you visit family and/or friends?

my family is out-of-town, so I don't see them as much; I visit with friends about twice a week

7. How well do you know your neighbors?

barely, but I attribute this social isolation to living in an apartment complex that doesn't have any community gathering space

8. Do you feel like you can trust your neighbors?

I don't know them enough to trust them, but I've never had cause for concern (many in my building are harmless elderly women)

9. What mode of transportation do you use to get to work everyday?

car

10. What mode of transportation do you use to run errands such as grocery shopping, purchasing household goods, going to the gym, visiting the barber or stylist, etc.?

mostly my car, sometimes I walk or take the trolley

11. Which, if any, community programs are you directly involved with?

Pittsburgh Cares (a volunteer organization) and, because of my profession, I'm involved with lots of local literacy programs

Thank you for your time it is greatly appreciated!

you're welcome!

1. How long have you lived in Pittsburgh? 6 months, moved here from Indiana, PA.

2. In which neighborhood do you reside? Highland Park (bordering East Lib.)

3. What structural changes have you noted in your neighorhood within the last year (e.g. construction of townhomes, closing down of shops, building of hospitals or health centers, paving of roads, etc.)? They've been fixing a few houses in East Liberty, Bakery Square, and they are in the process of building a high-rise near Bakery Square and I heard they're building a 2-story target there.

4. In what way have these changes affected your daily pattern of living in your neighborhood?
They haven't really affected me yet but I'm sure that once the Target goes in it'll be closer and more convenient, and I'm sure the fixing up of homes is always good for the property value of the neighborhood I live close to. (sorry if this didn't make much sense)

5. How have these changes affected your opinion or perception of the community you live in?
Positively.

6. On a monthly basis, approximately how often do you visit family and/or friends?
I visit my friends a lot because they live very close to me, in Highland Park and in Shadyside. My family lives an hour and a half away so I don't visit them quite as often (like once a month or so).

7. How well do you know your neighbors?
Not really that well, I pretty much keep to myself most of the time. But the one seems really nice that I've met.

8. Do you feel like you can trust your neighbors? The one that I've met, yeah. I haven't had a problem with either side. The people that live in the other apartments in the house are really nice.

9. What mode of transportation do you use to get to work everyday? Car.

10. What mode of transportation do you use to run errands such as grocery shopping, purchasing household goods, going to the gym, visiting the barber or stylist, etc.? Car, unless I have to go downtown, and I ride the bus on that occasion.

11. Which, if any, community programs are you directly involved with?
None, but I'd like to get involved in some fairly soon, because I think that's important.

Thank you so!
To answer your question john, no, my line of questioning is not funded by any enterprise. I am, however, interested in transport choice and urban revitalization efforts.
I thank you all for your time and hope you have a great weekend.

Seth -- I don't qualify as I live in Oakland CA -- but I did want to paraphrase something the late great Charleton Heston said -- they will have to pry the steering wheel from my cold dead hands. I love my car, I love to drive and until they figure out a way to make a hybrid with a stick shift, I'm sticking with the gasoline engine.

Beep, Beep!
