Looks as though apple will be expanding here in Pittsburgh over the next 3 years. Details are still vague, but I have read a few pieces saying it will be in the Hundreds, and not thousands of jobs for us.

slow and steady seems to be the pace here for our city.

Very good news. I know they've had an office here for years. The Business Times had a map that showed cities where the expansion will occur. Pittsburgh is one of the cities targeted for expansion by several hundred jobs, along with New York and Boulder, CO. They will open new offices in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, and they will create a $1 billion campus in Austin with 5,000 jobs to start.

1k jobs would be great, but I suspect it won't be that many. FB is only going to be adding around 500 by taking over 100k sq ft of office space. I suspect they will take space in the strip at the future Buncher buildings. Seems to be where the tech companies like to locate.

with these 2 expansions alone we add somewhere around 1k-1500 good paying jobs to the core of the city. This should help keep pressure on the luxury apartment market.

According to the report I saw the initial number of jobs is less than 1000, but after a period of time, I don't recall how long, it would grow to 1000 jobs.

Please post that report. These articles say nothing of Pittsburgh getting 1,000 jobs.

I haven't seen any articles about Pittsburgh. I will tell you that in my area, Apple is being very coy.
Apple to add hundreds of jobs in Boulder - Boulder Daily Camera
"A company spokesperson declined to say how many people are employed here today, and how many more will be added to Apple's payroll, but graphics included in the news release show there are between 100 and 250 jobs here today. That will grow to between 250 and 500 by 2023."

It’s a bad headline and a poorly written article...no count on the Pgh jobs (the 1k jobs are Seattle, San Diego, and Culver City), but it will be more Apple jobs than yesterday no matter what....

Pittsburgh is a desirable city. I moved here from New York/ New Jersey because it is. Nashville has better weather and this is a guess without doing any research but I’ll assume they aren’t burdened with legacy costs so they may have a more desirable business climate. Pun intended.

I’ve traveled to most major US cities and Pittsburgh is up there near my top in a lot of ways.

I just saw the news advertisement state there would be 1,000 new jobs added at Bakery Square. I was too busy watching the Penguins and Browns games to know more. I can't find anything on it.
