well, since the population in the Strip is growing, it would certainly make sense that crime is growing. that would happen anywhere. is there a place where the population grows but crime doesn't? they also have unicorns there I assume.

Could you provide some data on population growth? Usually growth in crime and growth in business don’t go hand in hand. Are you saying if there is population growth there are more criminals amongst the residents?

Not really. Population growth doesn’t equate to higher crime. Sometime through gentrification crime goes down as population increases.

Any place where a lot more people and more development are around than there were before, is going to have increase in crime. It's not necessarily the residents. It's the opportunity for crime. many of those crimes can be committed by people who do not reside there. but the areas with more things to steal, and more people to assault, are going to have more crimes as they grow. Isn't this just common sense?

If you have data to support your claim please post it. Thoughts and feelings on a subject hold little water without proof.

It is interesting. It really has nothing to do with the argument by the other poster though. By their logic when population grows crime goes up. If that’s the case Cranberry Township would be a crime ridden cesspool.

I’m still waiting for the other poster to respond with hard data to support the argument. The New York article talks about population growth. Is there population growth in the Strip District? Again more data to support this argument. They is likely more business activity and you can make an assumption with new office space and the fact companies are leasing space there.

Otherwise, Thanks for sharing...

I would need to see some statistics about crime in East Liberty for example. Population is growing, but I suspect crime is going down. Why should the Strip be different?
