Other than Hank’s and the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe, the biggest highlight of New Brighton is in the last 15+ years is getting a Dollar General and recently a new supermarket.

Speaking of Beaver, what happened to the old Beaver County Courthouse? Beaver is the only county seat around Pittsburgh that does not have a grand historic courthouse. Did it burn?

Could be wrong but I was told by friends who previously lived there that it burned down supposedly from a birds nest catching on fire.

Thanks to all who replied -
I am working but focused primarily on work-from-home opportunities. I write, design and do web content work. so I need internet.

Being a bit closer to Pittsburgh might be nice for cultural adventures, but I am quite happy with the no-traffic lifestyle here!

I will def check out Ohiopyle & Greensburg, Falling Water and Uniontown.

I'm a big fan of Zelie as well. The Strand Theatre is a great little venue for comedy and jazz shows.

And the Lion should be a historical landmark.

Franklin is a beautiful, well-preserved small town in Northwestern PA. Titusville is charming, too. You could see both on the same trip.

Fayette County has some old river towns with interesting architecture (Brownsville, Connellsville), but this area is depressed. Uniontown is the county seat and has the most going on. Fayette County has beautiful scenery.

Greensburg has a lot of culture for its size, and the downtown and museum are worth exploring.

Wheeling, WV is about an hour from Pittsburgh. The Center Market area is charming and historic. There are also some museums and local cafes and such. The riverfront park is very nice. Oglebay is beautiful as well.

I just moved to Kittanning and am in love with the area. It is mostly rural and the landscapes are stunning. Kittanning has an excellent riverfront park and a historic house museum.

Johnstown has the flood history and museum, as well as a really cool incline. That town is also worth wandering around and exploring.

Hollidaysburg is one of the most beautiful towns I have visited. Great architecture, cute and vibrant business district, and great restaurants..

I am probably leaving out a bunch, but Hollidaysburg, Bedford, Franklin, Wheeling, Johnstown, most of the county seats.. Erie has Presque Isle, which is lovely in the summer.

Years ago when I was a kid I used to go to a friend's camp and pass through Franklin. My memory was that it was always a nice looking town. Nice to see that it has held up over the years.

I have friends that live in Kittanning. I think one technically lives in West Kittanning and the other lives in Kittanning proper. They both work up there so they don't have a commute.

Have you become a historic home flipper? Or are you keeping the houses? Didn't you have one on the North Side too?
