I like Allegheny West, though there's relatively little for me to do on Western Avenue. Nicky's is probably the best Thai restaurant in the entire city, but ever since the downtown branch opened there's less reason to go there. Last year I'd sometimes take long walks during lunch from Gateway across the river and stop into Adda for some tea as well.

The City of Pittsburgh has around 40 different business districts in total, meaning there's plenty of places for people to check out.

For me, just walking along that unique street is in itself something to do. I usually follow that by walking in the Allegheny Commons Park though.

Western Avenue has been on the up and up for years now. Sad we lost Carmi but life goes on. Edit to add; this part of the city isn't forgotten, it's been very popular for people from this side of town and elsewhere.
