Pittsburgh restaurants and bars temporarily close amid rise in COVID cases

https://www.post-gazette.com/life/di...s/202112290065

"Owing to outbreaks among staff, dozens of other popular restaurants around the county have closed through the holiday. These include Dish Osteria, Cafe Io and Io Deli, Oak Hill Post, Noodlehead, Gaucho, and even the mobile Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck. Some, like Morcilla, Square Cafe, Allegheny Wine Mixer, Roundabout Brewery and Two Frays Brewing have reverted back to takeout only for the next few days. Others like Acacia, MoonLit Burgers, Kaya, Sultry F&B, and Butterjoint have closed temporarily and are taking things day-by-day."

no - just find it interesting that a business would willingly shut itself down during the most profitable time of the year

If there are outbreaks among the staff (and that is the reason that most bars and restaurants who have made this wrenching decision to close even if only temporarily), it was and is the wisest thing to have done.

Working in a restaurant means working in close quarters with others; most area restaurants are already short-staffed as it is. Would you rather the disease work itself throughout the staff and its guests in favor of making a buck?

i work at a very popular landmark pittsburgh restaurant - over the past few months a handful of my coworkers have gotten sick and either taken time time off or worked with masks on while trying to recover - no one has been hospitalized

never once was there any discussion of closing the restaurant

Making a buck? Do you feel we can keep printing money? Maybe in a few more months your $20 will be worth $5 and you are buying fuel for your car, or buying some groceries wondering what happened. I think we need to open up as much as we can or we will see even more inflation. Then they are going to have a great excuse to tax us to death due to Covid as we shut down for the greater good.

Better look at the big picture. This thing is going to be decades long as far as what we are in for. Thankfully there are some great governors like DeSantis that are bucking the trend. We will be looking to them to carry the rest of us under Wolf's dictatorship approach and other idiots like him. Look at Pitt and CMU. All are vaccinated and they are going remote. If you go remote, maybe everyone should just learn from a few top colleges in the US instead of having all these tax-free colleges crushing our young with debt. Remote learning is a scam on so many levels, but college sort of became a scam at this point.

Interesting study for sure, but making a buck isn't really part of the equation longterm.
