to anyone - if you've ever considered taking route 30 all the way out or back, do it. its a wonderful drive and not totally devoid of any diversions (buffalo ranch, if its still there, Shanksville memorial, wind turbines, etc.)

Peak foliage in Western PA

Park in Allegheny County I went for a Columbus Day hike on. Waited for near sunset to bring out the golden glow of the Golden Forest



In my new backyard, possibly the reddest tree I've ever seen

yeah, they are spectacular! i love walks in wood areas like that - quiet, chilly, the sound of your shoes through a carpet of leaves....

Gorgeous photos, guys! It does seem early. We went to a wedding in Pittsburgh on 10/10/10 and the leaves had barely started to turn.

My goodness - I can hardly wait to move to see them next year! One of the many things I miss about living in an area with so many deciduous trees!
