How does that "hold my beer" metaphor work, anyway? Wouldn't Trump be giving his beer to someone to hold (maybe Eric or Don Jr.?), so he could get back to work? Why would Trump be holding Joe's beer?

Because Socialist Joe is going to make everything that people who blame because Trump for, look like it was nothing. In easier to understand words, “Hold my beer and watch this”.

Gotcha, although I'm still not sure why Joe gives his beer to Trump in that scenario. I bet Joe would ask Jill to hold it, or maybe the VP, although he'd probably mispronounce her name when asking her to do so.

Little slow there so I’ll try to explain it even easier. Trump was the President, now Socialist Joe is the the President. The because Trump folks blamed because Trump for everything. Joe is handing Trump his beer and saying watch this as he blows up the country and gives it away. In other words, because Trump will have done nothing compared to what Joe is going to do.

So, the meme generally goes:

A does something bad/embarrassing and then B does something in the same vein or even worse.

The phrase, "hold my beer" is then made in reference to B doing the something worse. Nevertheless, I do not see that it is a necessary or even common part of the meme to specify that A holds B's beer. In fact, it seems that the individual/entity left holding the beer is generally not specified.

So, I guess it would make more sense to me to say, "Hey libs, if you think Trump was an awful, no good, horrible president (and an even worse husband, father and human being in general), it is my (respectful) opinion that, on this topic of bad presidents, Joe Biden has just made the declaration, "hold my beer."

There ya go. Whatever works for you. And since you already said it, I didn’t want to say libs and hurt any feelings. I will say that very few have come up with anything good to say about socialist Joe, especially after bribing folks with $2000 and putting a limit on it. I’m sure he’ll make it up in other ways, though.

Oh, I'm sure she'll focus on that issue. Not sure who supports those folks in Portland, I certainly don't. Now, do you finally want to make amends for your shameful comments about the Jan. 6th riot? I'm ready to take your confession, if you are.
