In fact, many of the southern suburbs now have double-digit Asian population percentages. Here's the list of Allegheny County suburbs that are at least 5.0% Asian:

Asian population percentage (2020)

16.9% Franklin Park
15.0% Marshall Township
14.2% Scott Township
13.2% Whitehall
12.3% South Fayette Township
12.2% Baldwin
9.4% Upper St. Clair
7.5% Monroeville
7.4% Fox Chapel
7.1% Blawnox
7.1% Brentwood
6.8% Pine Township
6.6% McCandless
6.5% Castle Shannon
6.3% Green Tree
6.0% O'Hara Township and Sharpsburg
6.0% Carnegie
5.9% Aspinwall
5.5% Indiana Township
5.1% Moon Township
5.1% Robinson Township

There are many other municipalities in Allegheny County that are at least 2.0% Asian, but I don't have time to list them right now. I will in the future when I break down the data by race.

Outside of Allegheny County, these are the only municipalities with Asian population percentages that move the needle:

Asian population percentage (2020)

5.7% Slippery Rock
5.0% Delmont, Export and Murrysville
4.3% Cranberry Township
2.9% Adams Township, Callery, Mars and Valencia
2.3% Peters Township
2.2% Cecil Township

Otherwise, there are only two census tracts that are at least 2.5% Asian: one in Slippery Rock Township that is defined by the Slippery Rock University campus, and one in Hempfield Township that includes the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg campus and adjacent areas near Westmoreland Mall.
Interesting. Mirrors what I noticed looking at the city neighborhood by neighborhood last year, where there were big increases to the Asian population in some sections of the West End (and a few South Hills neighborhoods) which stabilized them.

I really wish there was better data regarding who the Asian groups are settling in these areas. I cannot believe it is all just the Nepalese - there surely are not enough of them right?

Pittsburgh metro area loses population, leads nation in natural population decline

https://triblive.com/local/westmorel...ation-decline/

"The Pittsburgh metropolitan area lost 13,755 residents between July 2020 and July 2021, according to U.S. Census estimates.

The biggest factor of that loss was the region’s natural decline, which is when an area experiences more deaths than births. The Pittsburgh metro area’s natural decline of 10,383 was the largest natural decline of any metro area in the United States, according to census estimates."

"University of Pittsburgh economist Chris Briem said he suspects the decennial count showed growth mostly at the front end of the 2010s, and new estimates are confirming Pittsburgh’s above-average age is catching up with the region.

Briem added that covid-related deaths are impacting population figures here, as they are across the country."

don't forget about covid-vaccine-related deaths - like mr. vaccine himself bill gates said, is it worth it to keep granny alive for three more months at huge expense or is it better to not lay off 10 teachers? but we're not allowed to have that conversation because that's called the death panel...

classic video - only reason it hasn't been taken down is because bill gates wants it out there

What do you think the long term effects are going to be of those that had Covid? Shorter lifespan? Plenty of younger people have passed due to this disease as well. I mean we have a record number of states and cities in decline. It’s likely the Covid deaths reported are just a third of what the Covid deaths really are.

People wanted their freedom. Many got it in the form of a body bag. The others are getting it in the form of long term disability and a shorter lifespan. The pandemic was downplayed from the start and we are going to be paying for it a long time in population decline and supply shortages because there aren’t enough people to fill the jobs.

Pittsburghs problem is certainly an old population but the local economy doesn’t offer a lot in wages or opportunities. That’s the number 1 reason why we don’t permanently turn a corner with growth.

I mean you are a techie that can go 180 miles west to the soon to be largest chip plant in the country and start out at 130k a year. And that is thousands of jobs. Why stay here for lower wages and little opportunity?

You’re forgetting the possibility of long term affects of the experimental shot/s.

And so many that wanted and still want their freedom are doing great. However, those that are still scared should really have nothing to worry about if they trust the experimental vaccine and masking up.

Unfortunately, shutting it down has produced huge consequences but there’s plenty of folks to fill jobs. Besides, hundreds of thousands migrants are and have been fleeing into the country since the border has remained open. Just gotta get them working versus passing out more free stuff. Paying folks to sit on the couch when less than half the country paid federal income taxes last year has huge consequences, especially in regards to skyrocketing Bidenflation.

According to these MSA numbers, folks aren’t staying in the city or state and many are fleeing for greener pastures in droves…and this isn’t good for the area. https://amp.goerie.com/amp/9101274002

Natural decline has been a problem for the region for decades now, so it's no surprise that the long term effects would compound.

Especially with the loss that’s been seen the last 2 years with folks leaving. Don’t see a reason for it to slow down.

Yeah, the Census is talking about the increase in natural decline and Pittsburgh is among the worst (if not the worst), but yeah sure, chime in with the talking points. Toxic gotta be toxic.

Wouldn’t call the truth being toxic. It’s just what the numbers say.

The Census literally highlighted the natural decline surge, but you gotta be your toxic self.

By that definition the numbers are toxic, but can be fixed. Simply make the area/s more desirable and folks will stay and come.
