The Township and Police Department have been receiving several calls regarding the sightings of coyotes throughout O'Hara Township. In the interest of safety, several tips are included below. Please remember coyotes are more active in the spring because this is when they have their young. It is always important to not approach or feed wild animals. It is important wild animals maintain their fear of people for
our and their safety.

• Coyotes frighten with loud noises
• Keep garbage in a tightly sealed container Keep your yard free from pet food, fallen fruit, and spilled bird seed from feeders
• Trim back low bushes and brush so coyotes have less cover to hide in
• Use yard lights or motion lights to frighten coyotes
• Keep small pets indoors or always supervised when outside
• Never feed coyotes. Fear of humans is important for the species" health • Keep in mind coyotes are more active in the spring because this is when they have their young
• If you do encounter a coyote never turn your back or run, continue to
make loud noises until the coyote leaves
