Just mix everything together over low to medium heat for about fifteen minutes. I prefer kaiser rolls because they are sturdier and that is important for something that can be messy like ham bbq's. Enjoy!

Ooh! My mom makes and EXCELLENT BBQ chipped chopped ham. Not the same recipe as Isaly's, but dang is it good.

I worked in 2 Islay's delis once upon a time ago. There were many things that made it special. When I make Jello I boil both cups of water with each packet. That way there is no residue at the bottom of the bowl. Between the steam table, the ice cream counter, the deli.....it was tops. A nice chipped ham or BBQ sandwitch with a sundae for dessert. Am I a bit plump??? Yes but the eatin couldn't be beat. We need more Islay's and their ice cream scoop!!!! GIVE ME MORE ISLAY"S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I make my Isaly's ham bbq with a molasses base sauce like KC Masterpiece, or Sweet Baby Ray's. Then a spoonful of grape jelly, and a citrus pop like Squirt. They taste great.

Wow, talk about a blast from the past. Are Isaly's still around? I grew up in NE Ohio and remember Islay's AND the chipped chopped ham AND their ice cream very well.

Thanks for the memory. It's been years and years since I heard that name. Don't know if they still have a store in Warren, Ohio.

Did anyone ever give you a source on where to get Isaly's chipped ham that would ship ?

I'm having people over Sunday for the Super Bowl; sure would like to serve up some Chipped Ham BBQ sandwiches.

I recently tried Isaly's chipped ham at a bodega / deli on the north side, near Alleghheny General Hospital.... of course, it was only advertising the meat and was not an actual "Isaly's"-owned deli, so it begged the question:

ARE there any "corporate-owned" or Isaly's-OWNED delis in the area, or is it just that they license the name out to different vendors???

Was that on East Ohio Street? Because that is the only Isaly's that I know, or is that big sign just the advertisement to which you refer?

There's a coupon on their site for chipped ham. It expires on March 31. In their list of where to buy products, no Isaly's stores are named. They claim Super Walmarts have their ham. I've never seen it at the Mills. The chipped ham that store sells comes from a wild boar.

Ed, Yes I was just in McMurray in December and the giant Eagle there has chopped ham and I bought myself a 10 # loaf and brought it back here with me on the plane. But they did say they would ship this. Too late for you to get for the game but maybe for another time.
I myself am making ham barbq for the game tomorrow too. I also found a site that you can buy Isaly's BBQ sauce but since I did not think about it until this week, I am trying to make my own that will taste the same.
We have 2 other friends from Pa up here in Maine so should be fun day. I even have some IC light! Have a great day

I was wrong about Walmart. They do sell Isaly's chopped ham. The deli guy told me they check prices of other area stores, even mini chains like Community Market. Usually it's $3.27 a pound unless somewhere else has it on sale.
