Hi,

My mother in-law is from Germany and enjoys going out for German food.

So far we have been to the following:

Penn Brewery
Max's Allegheny Tavern
Kliner Duetchman

Does anyone know of any others? We plan on going to Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh if they ever open!

Thanks
Ray

Kleiner Deutschmann
643 Pittsburgh Street, Springdale
Kleiner Deutschmann - Springdale, PA, 15144-1539 - Citysearch (http://pittsburgh.citysearch.com/profile/8598566/ - broken link)

The above is a link to description and a couple reviews. I think the place looks cool although I've never eaten there. Pgh. St. is what they call old Rt. 28/Freeport Road in Springdale. It's the main road alongside Allegheny River. If you go there let us know how it is.

Read the guy's post. He said he has been there.

Closing, but with the explicit intention of moving, not staying gone forever (according to their own official web site blog and message board). So at least that's something. Also, I know the OP mentioned Max's but I just want to give it a bump too. Amazing food, and if anything it frustrated me that it and Penn Brew were so close together because it was so hard to choose!

If you're in State College, I give my highest recommendation to Herwig's Austrian Bistro.
