I was just wanting to get peoples opinions of improvements in certain areas of Pittsburgh. What are will show the most improvement in the next 10 years: East Liberty, Garfield, Lawrenceville, North Side, or an other area?

I know there is a lot of development going into east liberty right now, but it is still a little rough. Is there plans to make Penn Circle more pedestrian friendly (it is way overbuilt).

Are the art developments enough to bring growth to make Garfield a nice place to live in the future?

I'd guess the North Side has the best shot, with all the development already completed or in progress.

When the city took over the Garden Theatre, North Side went to hell in a handbasket. The same thing happened downtown when they got rid of the Art Cinema and all the cultural bars and novelty shops that went along with it.

East Liberty was big time long ago and I think it has the best possibility of showing the most positive change in a ten year time frame. Lawrenceville will improve but that's slow going. Garfield was never a big deal in my lifetime. It will improve but I don't think it will be that significant.

I think the Friendship area will become a hot territory. Right now it seems a good place for investments. Let's see what happens to the Don Allen properties at Baum and Liberty. That will be a big plus for that area.

I guess I would say East Liberty, but that is kinda an apples-oranges thing because the development in East Liberty is mostly commercial.

I'll vote for Larryville. There are a host of start-ups springing up along the Allegheny and Children's Hospital should be a great economic anchor. Add to that the high gas prices and a lot of employees might prefer living within walking distance.

I think my vote would be Lawrenceville, too. Once the hospital opens, a TON of professionals will be moving in, too.

I'd definitely say East Liberty. The community groups there have solid plans for continued development, and the plans are already in the works for returning Penn Circle to two way traffic. The Penn Avenue stretch between the Penn Circle ends has huge potential for outdoor cafes and restaurants, with its wide sidewalks. Much of the housing stock is gorgeous, if run down. There's no doubt it's still a bit rough, but East Liberty is where I'd put my money.

East Liberty seems like teh best shot so far, because it is in the East, and the East seems like a hot bed now.

Lawrenceville may be a second.

The problem with the North Side is that its so big that the concentration is mainly on the North Shore and no where else.
