If you are being treated like some of you say you are, (being followed in stores, etc), I darn well would make a scene in the store and try to embarrass the clerk or whoever was following you around the store. Also, when you are finished, take your business elsewhere. Whether your skin is black, white, red, yellow, whatever; your money is still the same and can be spent elsewhere where it would be appreciated.

I think making a 'scene' would be a mistake. It would just perpetuate the stereotype and the store clerks would feel validated.

I would write a letter to the regional manager and CEO of the company. That's how I've always resolved issues I've had at retail stores, and I've had successful results.

Your point? That Jesse Jackson didn't become president because he was a black guy in America?

Doesn't it ever occur to you that a failure of a black person isn't always attributed to color?

Jesse Jackson has succeeded in many areas. His failure to become President had more to do with the fact that he couldn't find the center line. He was too liberal, too activist. Obama won the Presidency because he was wise to move to the center. That's the only way to get the swing votes. The independents and swing voters don't like the far left and far right. They want center. Jesse Jackson is far left from center.

This is the reason I don't make a scene

Hopes, I agreed with you to some degree. Jesse in a sense pissed away his chance at the presidency when he made that stupid remark that offended the Jews. Obama made it in part b/c Bush screwed up so much and the American people did not want a man of the same party and one foot on a skateboard and the other in the grave with a nutcase to replace him.

I thought McCain had a good chance of winning until the economic situation just crashed badly starting in September.

He was actually ahead in the polls until Lehman Bros collapsed...he never recovered. But don't mention this to anyone else. Facts and liberals go together like oil and water.
