Hi everyone, I'm moving to Latrobe soon. What is the best way (most inexpensive) to travel from Latrobe to Pittsburgh International Airport? Taxi? Is there any bus line? Thanks for your help.

I need to fly to Atlanta, and the airfare would be $100.00 cheaper if I fly from Pittsburgh

Can you take a bus to downtown Pittsburgh from Latrobe? Then find an airport shuttle at one of the hotels. I think a tow truck is cheaper than a taxi cab. You will end up spending the $100 you're saving if you take a cab.

I think that there may be an Amtrack train that runs from Latrobe to downtown? You could take a taxi from there to the airport. Not sure about the cost though.

Get a ride to the airport and back and pay for your buddies gas and buy him a beer or three. You will be way ahead.

That's your best bet there. However, if you find yourself both rideless and friendless you can take a Westmoreland County Transit bus from Latrobe to Downtown Pittsburgh and then transfer to the 28X which runs to the Airport. The schedules for WCT and the Port Authority are online.

If it were me flying, and the difference was just $100, I would definitely save a LOT of time and fly out of Latrobe.

FREE parking, two gates and a security line that is a breeze to go through.

No allowing for extra traffic on the Parkway West, no allowing extra time for construction on the Parkway East... WAY easier with less time involved.

Wink Latrobe Airport to Pittsburgh Airport

Yes, it is cheaper to fly from Pittsburgh instead of Latrobe. But ONLY for the actual cost of the ticket. You can goto the Sheraton in Greensburg and take a shuttle van to the Pgh port for $40 each way. It makes multiple stops and takes around 4 hours. That's $80 bucks plus your time. You can drive the 70 miles from Latrobe, fight the traffic through (2) tunnels and spend the gas money and then pay to park at $8/day and rush around through a huge, inefficient airport. This takes about 2 hours each way if you are lucky.

Latrobe airport is great. You can arrive literally 30 minutes before your flight, park for free, walk 200 feet from your car to the ticket counter, get all the free coffee you want, go through security, and get on your plane.

Yes, tickets are cheaper at greater Pitt, and I fly back and forth from Florida to Latrobe every other month. The first time you fly out of Latrobe, you will see the value of what that extra $100 gets you. Hope this helps.
