Speaking of old industrial, I love that old building in Millvale that's right next to the route 28 off ramp.

Only if you can get that gawd awful aluminum siding off.... I'll never know why people do stuff like that...

im glad there are others like me...haha - i also love the old industrial warehouses and whatnot. it is my dream to move back and make a career out of restoring them to productive, commercial buildings (id better hurry, because pgh's building stock is no longer that much of a secret, it seems).

thanks for the photos - i miss the chilly autumn days, walking along, kicking gravel along a deserted rail spur, amongst the deserted, gloomy brick buildings - if you listen carefully youd hear the ghosts of men and machinery of ages past....

Hotel Wentz not abandoned on the 1st floor anyway. I live right around the corner, and have had a couple of beers there. It has massive potential and I love walking my dog past this place just to enjoy the architecture there. The older people who run the place (on the odd times that it is actually open) would definitely most likely sell...but I've run into a bunch of people in Millvale who have a strong sentinemtal value from the good old days and want more than something is really worth right now...

Would love it if someone bought it and fixed it up!

Wow! Hotel Wentz is still open? It looks abandoned from driving by it! LOL Thanks for clearing that up!

The store fronts look interesting in Millvale...but most are closed down? Or just the ones in the photo?

Great pictures. I love the Pink Apartment building. If I am getting it right, that is an example of Greek Revival and dates the building to before the Civil War. After the War, the Italianate Style came in, and the beautiful red brick building immediately following the Pink Apartment shows that.

I was thinking it was Romanesque Revival, but it's been a long time since I studied architectural history.

Beautiful photos! Just out of curiosity, how much might one of these brick rowhomes fetch? This is exactly the sort of living arrangement I'm seeking.

Wentz hotel is not for sale. My husband and his sister were cheated out of this building when thier mother died, leaving it to her new husband. They intend to fight for it or see that it is torn down! The owner never even tried to take care of it. It is probably too far gone to save but we will see.
