It looks like it's made of feces. That's my opinion, what's yours?

That chocolate dude is creepy...Got a picture of Mr. Rogers, feces and all? That would help us weigh in.

One marginally related noted, we were discussing in the office yesterday about how Mr. Rogers and President Jimmy Carter struck very similar fashion statements.

I haven't been able to find a picture. Here's a photo of the prototype, I guess. It pretty much looks like this (photo courtesy of the Post-Gazette):

However, the overall "Tribute to Children" is very nice (artist's rendition courtesy of Family Communications, Inc.):

It's aweful. I dont' think the artist liked Mr. Rogers much. Must have some deep underlying emotional issues from childhood...

I agree. It almost ruins what could have been the perfect memorial. I guess nobody wanted to upset the important artist, and tell him that his sculpture sucks. They should name the airport after him. There's a Ronald Reagan International, why not Fred Rogers?

That is a wretched testimony to such a national treasure. Sheesh...

You know, I don't care for that artist's style either, but I guess you didn't read the article? http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09309/1011105-100.stm The same artist did a statue of Einstein in DC, and that was one Rogers liked so much that he made a point of visiting it every time he went to DC. He has another one in Pittsburgh, the one of Caliguiri on the steps of the City-County Building. So it does seem to be a fitting tribute, to commission the artist who did one of Mister Rogers' favorite statues, regardless of what we think of that particular artist's sculpting style. The whole remodel of the old bridge pier there seems really cool.
