I guess from my perspective, for both good and ill there isn't anything particular distinctive about Mt. Washington (outside of Grandview, which is really its own thing). I don't think of it as a uniquely bad neighborhood, but I also don't see it as having much unique appeal either, at least not in Pittsburgh (which is really full of these hilly neighborhoods with older houses).
