A town 25 miles outside of New York apparently felt it just wasn't right that despite half its residents being Hispanic, those pesky Caucasions kept winning all the elections. So, to provide incentives for the Hispanic Community to get out and vote, a system called "cumulative voting" has been put in place, allowing each voter to vote for a candidate 6 times. (So much for one man; one vote!) They have also extended the time to vote to 5 days, set up a soup kitchen and day-labor hiring center nearby. America - you gotta love us (especially if you are of Mexican descent nowdays!)

But if they are not here legally, they cannot vote..not even once.

I find it funny that this was backed by "FairVote". They may need to change their name to "FairVotes".

Hmmmmm. Legal = 6 votes; Illegal = 0 votes

So, what do you suppose the ratio is? I really have no idea. Enough for the Legals getting 6 to cover the Illegals supposedly getting 0??? Are there more than 6 illegals for every 1 legal?

"[Port Chester is] electing village trustees for the first time since the federal government alleged in 2006 that the existing election system was unfair."

2006?

"Federal Judge Stephen Robinson said that violated the Voting Rights Act, and he approved a remedy suggested by village officials: a system called cumulative voting, in which residents get six votes each to apportion as they wish among the candidates. He rejected a government proposal to break the village into six districts, including one that took in heavily Hispanic areas."

Weird....

It really is, isn't it. Some things are just unbelievable and this is one of them. And before the internet no one would know about this and if it weren't for links, no one would believe it.
