In wake of the comments by Republican reps Bachmann and Barton in which they criticized the Obama administration for basically forcing BP to set up a $20 billion escrow account for the damages of the oil spill (comments in which they, especially Barton were criticized for by members of his own party),
Do you agree or disagree with the Obama administration basically forcing BP to set up the $ 20 billion escrow account.
You mess it up, you pay for the fix. Especially considering the immediate impact on the people and natural resources. Can't take responsibility... quit doing business.
You should have included an "I have no idea." Honestly, I don't know because I have only read bits and pieces here and there. Culpability and whatnot, so I'm not qualified to answer. They are DEFINITELY liable though.
It also depends on where that 20B is going. I'm sure Nancy Pelosi and her husband will have a hand in that cash cow somehow.
From what I have gathered the POTUS met with BP and they agreed to the 20 billion fund and a 3rd party to dole out the claims.Where is proof of force, please post a link.If they agreed willingly I have no problem. They have said all along that they would take responsibility.
The whole thing sucks BP will end up in court for years and probably pull stakes taking those jobs to brazil. They should pay for the whole whole frigging thing but not by black mail. They accepted blame already and have been cooperitive they could have said F off
