This Buzz For You!

Quote:
The State Liquor Authority recently approved the sale of 192-proof booze - meaning the
potent potables are 96% alcohol.

Some shop owners and imbibers are raising a glass to the hooch, believed to be the strongest
ever available in the state, particularly folks in Polish and Russian communities who've had to
travel to New Jersey for the stiff brew.

"It's incredibly sharp. It takes your breath away," said Levi Pekar, 22, a Brooklyn student who
has sampled the swill. "It's like getting punched in the solar plexus."
That's the spirit! State approves 192-proof Spirytus, allowing New Yorkers to get quite the buzz

As long as they drink responsibly, have at it.

I think absinthe is legal in the US these days; that's 198 proof.

Lucid. I had a drop or two. I never saw any Steampunk activity, and no Sherlock Holmes. But I did get to dance with Cleopatra.

I knew it was legal in France but wasn't sure about the US.

I wasn't aware that this sort of alcohol was banned in New York. It sounds like plain old "everclear," which is usually sold at 190 proof. It's not really a "sippin'" alcohol, though. You usually don't pour yourself some 90% grain alcohol over ice and play poker with your buddies.

New York Approves 192-Proof Alcoholic Drinks

They must be about to roll out the new state budget

Ah the wormwood, I'd wondered where that drink had ran off to.
