Is this something to really be concerned about, or is the request to decrease our use of air conditioning going too far?

It is an example of just another liberal telling other people how to live.
His CO2 contention is liberal nonsense. I do agree that air conditioning has driven people inside (no porches and neighborhood socializing on front porches) and has contributed to lack of exercise.

These are all personal choices and no one has the right to make such decisions for other people.

In general, yes, they do.

I live for the summers. I like it when it's hot outside. I've lived a number of places that didn't even have air conditioning--but I don't need it. I'm in the privacy of my own home, and can walk around completely naked if I want.

When I go outside, I wear jeans and a T-shirt--only have to bundle up when it drops below 60.

I don't think he's trying to tell anyone that they have to live a certain way. He's just trying to raise awareness about the environment, social, and economic costs involved with using air conditioning. (I don't necessarily support or oppose his opinions, by the way.)

Humidity and heat don't go well with my guitars or guns in Florida. Let me tell you after working all day my house is going to be comfortable. I don't need some wack making me toss and turn in discomfort.

You want to see someone irritated?, see me in stuffy heat.

Nope. I don't like to be uncomfortable and I don't like to see my children uncomfortable. Plus two of my children have allergies.

100F today in NJ. 40 some % humidity. Africa hot.

I wonder if Cox knows how much money it costs/hurts the environment to run fans all day long and have your fridge and freezer working so hard to keep up? What powers his pompous behind? A nuclear power plant?

I hope Cox has solar panels on his house.

I do.

I always find it sad and yet oddly amusing that some people get defensive when someone gives them information that might give them pause.
