Well, loans like that will pretty much guarantee no solar advances anytime soon for us.
More corruption, collusion fueled by greed and wash my back and I'll wash yours.
All they care about is getting government money and putting it in their pockets.

First Solar should have and would have been a better bet.

Oh yeah, baby! Obama loves business! That's the theme of the new White House PR initiative.

The President thinks this sort of corruption proves that he is pro-business. I just wish he had the business experience of a 12 year old paperboy.

The OP's linked article has a link to this article..crap even Gore is involved

Two small unknowns among bigger players got chosen ?
There are way more stable, US based solar companies out there where this money would be put to better use.

Al Gore and Abengoa Solar go back a few years.

I am a BIG supporter of Solar Energy because i think we can definitely increase the efficiency to a truly usable level... but then you mentioned Al Gore... and now I think its wasted money into his pockets... nothing useful will come out of this... I was hoping it would be invested in research to create high efficiency solar panels like 60-70% or something... guess not, it will be building something else that I am sure Al Gore wants to charge you by the kW without producing any real advancement in renewable energy... sad really.... so much money for such a great project destroyed by greedy b@stards...

And Abengoa isn't even a US company. Granted they will employ here..but the money will flow OUT of the country..not stay here.

Glad to see Obama now needs to stimulate foreign companies with our tax money

That has been this administration's practice with most of its "green" policy. $$ leaves the US. Possibly his administration's greatest export.

" If Kanjorski’s company or the Spanish company default on their loans, taxpayers will be on the hook for paying back 80% of them, according to the Department of Energy"
