What we have in the United States is not a Democracy. We "choose" our leaders from the candidates that are pre-selected by the political parties and we have little or no say in the actual legislation that is created.

YouTube - Democracy? Yeah Right

Course not the international bankers at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, and their operatives throughout the government, like Little Timmy Geithner, Henry Paulson, Alan Greenspan, and Ben Bernanke control the country. Those people are just proxies of these 2 banks and related organizations.

Nope. It's not a democracy.
It's a republic, for exactly the reasons you said.

I'm still trying to figure out when the schools began teaching everyone that the United States was a democracy. Back when I was in High School I was taught we were a constitution based federal republic but for some reason this has changed.

On the other hand I have won a couple of bets with younger people who swear up and down that we are a democracy.

That's because they hear democracy being thrown around on the TV left and right and forget it. And you are right we're not a democracy, thank God. Just look at the mess California has become with their democracy initiatives.

Get over it. The hotly contested primaries in 2008 were an example in contemporary America of Democracy in action. If you don't like, it, that's your problem not mine.

Good vid and you bring up some solid points. When thinking of democracy I keep my sanity and perspective by remembering the words of Edwin Albin " In a democracy you do not get what you want but you always get what you deserve".My example of the people always get what they deserve is the topic you brought up in the vid and that is the bank bail out.Our leaders shook us down for 700 billion big ones and handed it over to the banksters.
What was the reaction from the people? they put most of those same leaders back in charge, what was the reaction from our leaders?Obama surrounded himself with the banksters. How much abuse will the American people put up with before they wake up and fight back? Our leaders know that a majority of the populace are a bunch of imbeciles that will fall for 30 second sound bites. They know that we are gluttons for punishment and they can do anything they want.
They have the system rigged where 99% of this forum will go to the polls and vote for a progressive {D} or a neo con {R},it is like do you want hit in the face with a ax or sledgehammer.People mistakenly think that democracy brings freedom,if that is the case then why is it that it is so difficult for 3rd parties to be on the ballot?Democracy like in other form of gvt can bring tyranny see Hitler and Germany.
You can predict with dead accuracy which party is going to gain control just watch where the Wall street money goes.Up until 92 that money was with the {D}s then it swung to the {R}s until 2006 and now it is swinging back to the {R}SoGuess which party is going to gain control? The {R}s will be able to get more 30 second sound bites and the masses will do the will of Wall street and vote them back in.
That is the system we have running our country we think we have self rule but in reality we are being controlled.
