What are the major accomplishments of the Democratic Party since 2007?

The dems took control of our congress more then 3 years ago and I would like to see a list of any major accomplishments they have under their belt since then.

What have they done for the typical American in the last years?

My premiums went up 60% since Democrats passed the new Healthcare Law. I pointed this out to a Democrat I know who is a real left wing kook and he says that it would have went up even more if the law didn't pass. I pointed out that in previous years they only went up 10-15%. He didn't know what to say after that.

I'd say that pissing off right-wingers has been their finest achievement.

They stopped spending our money like drunken sailors. Oops sorry not that.
They cutoff big corporate bailouts. Mmmm maybe not.
They got us out of Iraq and Afghanistan! Oops not that either.
At least they started reducing the number of troops there. Uh...no they increased them.
They repealed the Patriot Act and Bush's invasive "big brother" behavior! Not that either.
I know. They created "Change". Oh, hell, nevermind.

They managed to pass a healthcare bill that no congress (including all Democratic Congresses) in the last hundred years has been able to pass. It is a big accomplishment that has been on their list for decades..
Passing TARP along with the Bush Administration and many Republicans backing this country away from the economic cliff (although we are still teetering) is another major accomplishment.
An economic stimulus plan is another goal achieved by the Democrats.
A financial reform bill is another big accomplishment that the Democrats can check off of their list.

Whether you think the accomplishments are good or bad, the Democrats have done some big things over the past two years. Things that were on their list. They have been busy and did get things done. You can at least give them respect for that.

Well, the increase in your premiums sure as hell isn't b/c of health care reform, b/c virtually nothing has kicked in yet. Maybe the Dem you talked to just didn't want to continue the conversation.
