I had a discussion with a friend of mine, who takes a very different look at politics than I do.

I quote, "The progress of America isn't determined by its politics, but by the work of the everyday people...

that's whats so great about Capitalism and democracy, the everyday people have the freedom to drive the nation forward"

We go on to talk about how companies can bribe, oh sorry... "Donate" to political campaigns, we both don't think companies should and I said I don't think companies, like Wal-Mart, should be allowed to make so much, as much as Russia does annually.

his resonse..."Thats the beauty of capitalism. the people control the prices in reality."

So I'm curious, as to who else see's Capitalism in good light, as my friend does. It seems like the love and hunger for money is wrecking our nation.

I'll let on that he says he's GOP and Thinks Obama is the anti-christ.
I DO think more Republican, but i have views as Dems too, and thats why I don't believe in political parties.

BUT--"that's whats so great about Capitalism and democracy, the everyday people have the freedom to drive the nation forward"

This confuses me. We live in a Republic, led by some corrupt politicians and whatever else is in DC. the Everyday people DO have the freedom to drive the nation forward. But thats like saying you could climb Mt. Everst alone if you wanted to. In essence you could, but its not like that, if you understand what I'm saying?

Its hard for me to get my point across but How Do American citizens control the prices? Supply and Demand?

Capitalism isn't beautiful, we all have to work hard--some moreso than others-- to earn money to give it back to the people someone else, or you're working for...

Something beautiful would be a world without currency...
I'm only 16, so i'm not exactly a political genius, but please let me know what you think

There is a lot of anti-Capitalism stuff floating around these days. The fact is, it is by far the best system we have and there are checks and balances when it comes to keeping the system in check. The Sherman anti-trust act is one.

In the end, people who don't recognize Capitalism as the best system to date are pretty much ignorant of economics. You get a pass by virtue of being 16. But, if you want to understand it better - study economics and don't listen to morons like Michael Moore who is a liar and hypocrite.

capatilism needs to remain (fairly) heavily regulated, in order to "work" for the common man. Socialism, as much as it it being "feared and decried" these days, by those who have no concept of what true Socialism is, will NEVER happen in the United States. The key is BALANCE!

The problem is not Capitalism...the problem is the corruption and greed that it promotes and condones if left unchecked and deregulated. This has been proven over and over again.

If you want intelligent and honest knowledge of this stuff, you should read some of Thom Hartmann's books or listen to his radio show.

Capitalism is a wonderful economic system that theoretically allocates capital on the basis of returns earned in a competitive free market. This is a great idea but far too risky for most of the capitalists involved. Our country uses a system based on cronyism and government intervention to assure that the big money in the capital market always wins to the detriment of the smaller investors.

The Theodore Roosevelt administration instituted a set of laws that interfered with the cronyism but these have been repealed or simply ignored for the last 60 years of so. The dominant factor is our government borrowing money from other countries to fund our Military Industries which in turn use some of the money to corrupt Congress to continue to support our overseas empire to protect the international petroleum companies. This is a positive feedback system that has gone out of control or reason.

All these activities disrupt the free market and result in gross misapplication of capital to the advantage of the previous and current owners of the capital. What we call Capitalism is far from the actual theory.
