Anchor babies grew out of a decision by a judge that applied the law that was originally passed after the Civil War to protect Black babies born to former slaves. It was never meant to be instant citizenship to babies of illegal aliens, but then we have judges that make law now, such power in the hand of one person.

Default abused option to be closed....Hurrah!

Why would Hispanics be put out about getting rid of anchor babies?

The change would apply to any foreign 'visitors'.

Why would you assume this slaps the entire Hispanic electorate in the face?

I could see illegal aliens being pissed as it closes a loophole that has outlived its intended purpose and allows an abuse of US generosity. Categorically the law as it stands is detrimental to controlled immigation and enables all that makes uncontrolled immigration undesirable. A tennant held sacred by pretty much all soveriegn nations.

Can you name one sovreign nation that allows uncontrolled immigration?

Why do you think uncontrolled immigration is a good thing?

Today, engineers are paid less than your local plumber and sit packed in cubicles, required to work 80-hour weeks with almost no vacation time for the privilege of a job.

Why the change? Because the federal government allowed a massive influx of foreign workers with "engineering degrees" from Indian and other colleges that can be bought via mail. The worth and status of engineers was reduced to "a dime a dozen" even though getting through a decent college in America with an engineering degree requires about 5 years, a very high IQ, and a super-work ethic (while others are partying through college).

So yet another path to the Middle Class for American children was shut down, thanks to the massive government that sucks half the money out of our economy on the pretext of "protecting" Americans.

Now the socialists are turning doctors into low-level employees of mega-corporations.

What careers are your kids planning on pursuing?
I agree that foreign workers are undermining American born engineers, but how do you equate this to socialism? If anything socialist countries protect their home grown intellectuals over all else. I believe it was the fascist "free marketeers" aka conservative republicans who pushed for cheap labor laws. Ya know we could really use some engineering and medical unions to push for protectionist policies. Oh no! not Unions!

and so many of our laws were meant to handle one situation or problem but then get out of hand. I wonder how many laws and how much of the contitution those involved would say pertain to today?

People love to talk about Reagan signing an amnesty bill, he did, but never was it meant to allow anyone and everyone who wanted to come across the border to be accepted with open arms. It was passed for one situation only. Now look at what we have.
